DIfferent gui maps to test different versions of the application
I perform web testing. Now i want to run these scripts in different version of the application and at the same time i must be able to run the scripts in previous version, so i copied all the scripts into different folder .My problem starts here .since there can be many changes due to the enhancements in the latest version in order to run my scripts smoothly in the latest version I have to modify the gui map files. But if i want to run scripts on previous version would it have any impact. I am very confused. Do I need to copy gui map too along with the scripts to new folder and change this gui map instead of the original.
please send in all your thoughts about how I can solve this problem
Re: DIfferent gui maps to test different versions of the application
Have a common gui which just has enough information in it to perfom a help/about. check the version information present on your help/about screen. Load the appropriate GUI Map for the remainder of the application based upon the version present in that dialog.
I have known users of multilingual applications that take a similar approach to testing for english/french/spanish versions of an application (label attribute changes based upon the language of the application interface)
