    Learning of Tables

    User Siddharth Jain, Gurgaon (siddharthj@ggn.hcltech.com.nospam) posted:

    Hi all,

    How is winrunner able to identify tables on the page if the Gui for table
    is learnt on Html_name. The reason i ask this is that the html code does not
    have a name attribute for tables like it has for say Forms.

    Hi,
    First of all, the web developer can give this table the attribute 'name' an=
    d maybe it will give it a perminant name.
    If its not working, or its not possible doing that, use the location attrib=
    ute to define between different tables on the same page (with the same name=
    ).
    =20
    You can access the table's rows & columns simply by indexes (e.g. web_obj_=
    get_text("object",text,"#1","#2"," - ","",1); ). use the gui spy to see the=
    indexes.
    =20
    I hope it helps you.

    Alan,

    I think this function will solve ur problem

    function replace(st1,r1,r2)
    {
    auto i;
    auto res;
    i=3Dlength(st1);
    while (index(st1,r1)>0)
    {
    res=3Dres & substr(st1,1,index(st1,r1)-1);
    st1=3Dsubstr(st1,index(st1,r1)+ length(r1));
    res=3Dres & r2;
    }
    res=3Dres & st1;
    return res;
    }

    pause(replace("Alan-Church","-","\\-"));

    This result is "Alan\-Church"

    Thanks & Regards
