Licence and platforms
I heard different types of licence regarding, floating licence, single user licence etc. Could any body explain regarding this.
In which all platforms and database it will support.( whether it will support unix, linux)
Re: Licence and platforms
There are two aspects to licensing. One is with regards to flexibility of usage. Under this category, we can put in floating and node-locked licenses.
Floating essentially means that you have some kind of central license managing authority like FlexLM software running on the network. Anyone may install the actual product on any machine. However, when the product runs it makes contact with the FlexLM server and decrements the license count by one. So if you had 10 floating licenses, then 10 people anywhere on your LAN may use the product simultaneously.
Node-locked licenses are specific to a machine. The product will only work on the machine on which it is installed and nowhere else. Single-user licenses are generally node-locked.
