I have created script to verify that add a learner's profile properly. Script is able to run one the machine (Operating System: Window 2000 professional with IE 5.5), but not another Operating System: Window 2000 professional with IE 6.0). I believed that problems occurred on the GUI Map file. However, I'm not quite sure if I modify it in GUI editor correctly.
The second issue, how to handle unexpected events or errors during record or playback with new build (new release)?
Please help me. Any suggestion and recommendation are valuable for me.
As far as different o/s, I assume creating 2 GUI MAP 1 for each o/s and then in your script have logic that when you are on W2K then use GUI_W2K and when on WINNT then load GUI_WINNT.
For learning unexpected events/errors, if the they are generic then you may have develop general exception module that takes care of it, other wise for the ones that are introduced bacuase of new releases I think you have to learn them and make your script changed as & when with the release.
I am new to WR but throwing above thought for a learning curve......
There is a patch file for old versions of WR (earlier than 7.5). Basically, you need to uninstall WR, and specify the path file location during reinstall. After that, you'll be all set to run your test scripts against IE6, hopefully.
