Load balancing with multiple machines/Excel
I currently have a fairly extensive test that works fine on a single machine. I've added an outside layer 'driver sheet' to specify that each iteration of the test is to be run on a discreet set of customer data (basically, switch customer, then run test. Switch to next customer, run test, etc). I want to try and use several machines feeding off of a centrally located driver sheet so that each machine in turn takes the next available customer and processes it, the machines taking the next available company each time they finish.
The difficulty lies, I believe, in how WinRunner handles the spreadsheets. My alpha test works fine on a single machine- it flags lines as it goes, and if it encounters a flagged line, it skips it. Unfortunately, as soon as I use more than one machine, they seem unaware of one another- each machine just moves along the spreadsheet row by row, flagging all the way. I think that the problem lies with WinRunner pulling the spreadsheet contents into memory on each machine and not looking at the network copy of the spreadsheet. Is there a good solution that I am missing? Is this something that TD can do for me- load balance one test for lots of iterations?

you could ask SAM. SAM knows.
