    User Deshpande, Laxmikant (ldeshpan@mil.emc.com.nospam) posted:
    Hi All,

If any of you know how to port the present WinRunner scripts, which
are being developed to support English language to support multiple
    languages.
How can we make the scripts to work for other language apart from the
English. What happens to the GUI map?.

    thanks,

Re: How to execute the scripts for the foreign language

If your GUI map is set up correctly, you can create a new copy of your GUI map for each language you want to test. If you leave the logical names unchanged but change the labels of the objects, WinRunner will recognise the different language versions using the same set of tests. If you do this, when you wna to test in english you can load gui_ie.gui, then when you want to run against german you load gui_de.gui.

One thing to be aware of though is the need to parameterise any test data and checkpoint data as these may change with your different language versions.

    Hope this helps,

    Paul

    Hi,

We use our GUIMap and scripts in 4 languages : English, French,
German and Italian. We create the GUIMap and script on the english
application and use it without problem on the other languages. Maybe
you have to change your script a bit depending on language specific
needs (eg : if you need the program files folder, it changes in some
    languages).

    Greetings,

    Dorine
