Quirky behavior from WinRunner
Have anyone experienced "automated" behavior from WinRunner when WinRunner itself hasn't been called upon to do anything?
For example, I'm reading this forum with WinRunner up but no scripts have been opened and no GUI map have been loaded. Yet, after several minutes, the WinRunner Test Results window appears with no test results. Other times I would be editing a test script and then switch back and forth between its online help window with Alt-Tab and where ever the yellow arrow cursor is pointing, WinRunner would pop up a dialog box atating that the line of code is only valid in the context of a function. The line of code is *in* a function because I'm coding it! Or, many times when I close IE 6.0, the Test Results window would appear as if a test has been run but there are no test results in any of the three sections in the Test Results window.
I use MultiEdit often for Perl programming and this application uses the F2 key to save a file. Is WinRunner supposed to be catching keystrokes at all times? You'll remember that F2 is the start record quickey for WinRunner. Whenever I save a file in MultiEdit, WinRunner begins recording. I find this extrememly annoying.
If there is a way to stop this type of "buggy" behavior, please let me know. I've used version 4 and have been thoroughly disappointed in WinRunner's bugginess and crash prone behavior. Version 7.01 isn't convincing me otherwise, though it hasn't crashed on me, yet. I've read through several pages of past topics on this forum and haven't seen anyone speak of this and am very surprised.
I am running Windows 2000 SP2 with Office 2000. No e-mail program is running. The only thing that may be running is usually IE 6.0, MultiEdit and WinRunner's online help. Windows Explorer is always up with WinRunner.
Re: Quirky behavior from WinRunner
When WinRunner is open, the keyboard shortcuts are active even when another programm is on top. It happens to me that when i read this forum and press Ctrl+F5 to refresh the browser, the script starts in the background and suddenly my Program under test pops up. Ctrl F5 means 'Run script from top' Sometimes its even worse because the programm that i test uses F2 to search data which startet the automatic recording in winrunner and my script got wasted.
So when its too worse you need to start the program 'softkey configuration' and change a few keys
