objects in Winrunner
I am not using any automated tool yet, because our application is build on the Microsoft Word base and the main problem why we are not buying - we cannot manage Office Assistant and menu items. Also we need to compare texts and to capture cursor's position avery time. Winrunner doesn't see menu, menu items and OA as objects and using coordinates is unacceptable. May be there is another way (for example - can we wright script manually)to solve these problems?
Re: objects in Winrunner
What you can do with Winrunner and MS-Word (although this is not the final word )
You can compare text.
You can record/playback shortcut keys to manipulate the document through Winrunner.
Detecting the cursor becomes the challenge. A possible solution would be to have your script highlight the text or field at the current cursor position. Then you may be able to "inelegantly" use bitmap comparisons for verification of cursor position. Just a bitmap without highlighting leaves you with the possibility of capturing the bitmap while the cursor has blinked to OFF. However, you could change your cursor style and appearance to non-blink and avoid the need to highlight.
