    a few WinRunner questions

    User Bill Gleeson (gleesonb@yahoo.com.nospam) posted:

    Hi there,

I have a few questions in advance of a WinRunner project I may be
undertaking shortly. Any feedback will be appreciated.

    1. is it possible to run multiple WinRunner instances simultaneously
on the same (Win 2K Terminal Server) CPU? Different Session
    naturally.

    2. Is it possible to automatically run a WinRunner test script from a
command line (or similar) parameter? i.e. if I send the command
    "\programfiles\winrunner\winrun.exe sometest.script" will it execute
WinRunner and run the sometest script?

    3. Can WinRunner give some signal to another machine (on the same
LAN) that a script has completed? I'm thinking of something like
sending an email, writing to a file or some other flag.... Does TSL
    support commands like these?

    Thanks in advance.

    Bill

    Hi,

    this is a short answer:

    1) no. WR need to 'see' application windows. One pc, one WR turning.
    2)yes
3)it is really simple with TestDirector to handel this kind of problem. WR
can send an email if you reccord the concerned script if the mailer tool is
supporte by WR. He can write into a file saved wherever you want into the
    LAN.=20

    Re: a few WinRunner questions

I think the answer to question 1 is yes.

As for 3, sure you can write to files and invoke Office applications to send Email.

    Re: a few WinRunner questions

I believe you can have several virtual machines on one pc via a Terminal Server OS and if so the answer to 1 is yes.

    Hi!
    1. No. You only run with one instance of WinRunner.
    2. Yes. It is possible. Try to search in WinRunner User's guide.
    3. I'm not sure..
