Data driven Testing
Our company is into e-learning(online learning). We have essentially have many online courses in our e-learning products. Most of the webpages that we have are Interactive "Simulation" pages to simulate the learning experience..( A course could be "how to use MS EXCEL",simulating the learner how to use all the Analysis Toolpack in EXCEL)
Interactions could be upto 25-30 interactions per page.I'm thinking about using WR's Data driven testing to test these interactions with data. But all simulation interaction can have both "positive"(correct) and "negative"(incorrect) data. When I enter an incorrect data into the Simulation field, the system has to respond with a feedback saying that the data entered is incorrect or When I enter the correct data system offers me to proceed with the next interaction.
I can store all the data(both corrrect and incorrect) in the one datatable.
Do you think that WinRunner can help me testing interactive Interactive simuation Web pages like the ones I mentioned above?
Re: Data driven Testing
Absolutely. I have, in the past, created automated scripts to test applications that work in a similar manner. Just be sure to verify the correct message box appears when you enter incorrect data. Also, have test cases defined before you begin scripting. You probably have this done. I think it will make your scripting easier if you know exactly how you want to approach your testing.
