WinRunner as an Integration tool?
My company is using WinRunner for testing of
one web application and we are trying to build a new application and it needs to feed
data to the old application before an API is available and the management want to consider
to use WinRunner for this integration purpose. My question to the groups are:
1. Is this doable? what are the pros and cons
to use such a tool instead of some free package such as HTTPClient for scree scrape?
2. Anybody has any real experience of doing
this kind of work using win runner?
3. My limited knowledge on WinRunner is that
it reads the data from xls table and can run a loop until it is done for the whole table. In the case of Integration, you can imagine that the data is keeping writing to the table while the scripts should keep reading the data and once it is processed, the record should be moved to some other places so that it is not processed again. How can that be achieved?
Any help is highly appreciated.

Virtual Table Server
Just last month I attended a virtual cyber seminar from Mercury that covered this very problem.
It requires a download and a dll install.
You can declare virtual shared tables (rows and columns). It's built/used as a primative message passing method.
But it's late (1am) and I just cant find a great reference and details off Mercury's site.
If no one speaks up, call support and ask.
