    comparision of null values

    User (zuran_zuran@yahoo.co.in.nospam) posted:

    Hi!
I have a cell in html table whose value is null and the corresponding
expected value for that cell in the spreadsheet is also null.
When i compare both the values , Winrunner seems to fail at that
    comparision check.
    Any solution for this ?
    thanks in advance

    Hello John,
What exactly do you mean by fail? If you comparing a NULL value
against an expected value which is not NULL then of course you have a
    failure (justified).
Did you mean this? Maybe I did not understand you properly.
Do you ask something like ...
    if( "" == "" )...
    this should work.

    Hi Zuran,
This does not sound logical. I just tried it, and only by
marking the expression ""=="" and putting it in a watch window you can
see that it returns 1 (i.e. TRUE).
Try it on your WR editor...
Maybe the values that you are checking are not really "". Maybe a NULL
in your data can also be " "...?
Just a speculation but it could happen.

    Tell me what you found.

    Re: comparision of null values

Could you include some code sample or attachment.

I noticed you said winrunner failed. That's different from the logic not working. Also is this part of a function or in a loop and so on...

If winrunner is failing you, debug the script using watch-evalute and set break points inside functions called and step until ka-boom. Then fix.
