My browser (IE 5.0) crashes or stops responding everytime I open it when
WinRunner is also
open. A windows error message pops-up and IE closes. All was fine until
I shifted from NT 4.0
to Win 2000. Has anyone seen this before?

Have not run into that problem, but check Mercury's CSO page for any patches or updates. If you continue to have a problem try uninstalling WR 7 and reinstalling it. After that it is customer service time.
I figure if you have the courage to get out of bed in the morning, then how bad can the day be.
Sounds very similiar to the problems I had recently.
Things that were suggested to me via tech support:
Rename the Helper object in the Registry (details on the knowledge base at Mercury)
Ensure that ie_hooks in the wrun.ini file is set to zero (details on the knowledge base at Mercury)
Finally I recieved a new DLL from tech support which after installing seemed to fix all my probs
