    Handling Windows title bar

    User Shivaprakash GK (GK.Shivaprakash@blr.spcnl.co.in) posted:

    Dear All,

    I am automating an application using Winrunner6.02,where the title bar of
    window changes whenever an command is executed.

    I am running the scripts for atleast 10 hours continuously
    it looks like this
    Provision Service Order - Service Order No.:51
    {
    class: window,
    MSW_class: "!Afx:.*",
    label: "Provision Service Order - Service Order No.:51"
    }

    here, 51 changes 52,53,54......
    I tried to modify the logical properties like this
    {
    class: window,
    MSW_class: "!Afx:.*",
    label: "!Provision Service Order - Service Order No\\.\\:*.*"
    }
    and
    {
    class: window,
    MSW_class: "!Afx:.*",
    label: "!Provision Service Order - Service Order No\\.\\:[0-9][0-9]"
    }

    it works fine for a particular instance, later it does not identify the
    window itself!!!!!!!!!!

    So can you all share your ideas to solve this issue.....
    Thanx in advance,

    With warm regards & best wishes,

    Shiva Prakash G.K

    I would say you are on the right track with the regular expressions,
    but keep in mind that dot . will match anything including a dot :-)

    So you could use:

    label: "!Provision Service Order - Service Order No.*"

    This is assuming that you "don't care what comes after" the "No" bit.

    Regards,
    Misha.

    Thanx for the reply, I have tried that it does not recognizes the
    window.....
    As I said u, if I try this...
    {
    class: window,
    MSW_class: "!Afx:.*",
    label: "!Provision Service Order - Service Order No\\.\\:[0-9][0-9]"
    }
    it works few times..

    I also observed that the MSW_Class changes whenever new window has opened
    but I have tried to make that as optional parameter in GUI Configuration....

    So can you suggest me, how to proceed further........

    Thanx in advance,

    Shiva

    Are you starting the AUT before or after WR? Do you have the VB add in
    loaded? An msw_class =3D"afx" is sometimes caused by one of these...

    An approach I often find useful is to use the GUI spy, spy on Window
    and select All Properties, then see if any of the other properties
    would be more useful to match on than the default ones... you can
    then add or remove them by using the GUI map editor...

    For example, you could remove the MSW_class item and the reliability
    may go up at the price of possibly matching an unrelated but
    similarly named window.

    Kind regards,
    Misha
