RPC Error while calling a function in a DLL

I'm new to WinRunner and need some help. I've got a DLL, built using
VC++ 5.0, and have loaded it successfully in the test script (and
declared the function I intend to call with extern).
However, when that function is called during execution, WinRunner
gives me an error message saying
"Error function: 'myFunction' RPC Error"
"returnCode = myFunction (p1,p2,p3,p4);"
I recompiled the DLL using the WINAPI calling convention in the
function declaration, (pascal calling convention has been deprecated
and msdn documentation suggests using this instead), and the problem
