    Object names changing

    User (jrduk2001@yahoo.co.uk) posted:

    Hi all,

I have a problem in a web application. The application builds an html
table containing between 1 and 5 buttons, depending on what the user
has previously selected. These buttons seem to change object name
(and obviously co-ordinates) depending on how many appear. I am
having trouble getting WR to recognise these. Each button takes the
user to a different screen. Any ideas on how best to solve this one?
Virtual objects or some other way?

    Thanks
    John

    John,
How MUCH do the names change? Are they similar enough to use regular
expressions to identify and locate them?

    Hi John,
Regarding your question about a html_table object you can try to learn
the html_table in a generic way (i.e. with locaiton property or
html_name property) and then before making your test on it grab these
details tbl_XXXX statements. Take the columns & rows from that table and
then you can determine what to do next.
Also you can hold records for different users in a data table and take
in run time with ddt_val() statements. These records will hold the
necessary deatails of the table per user.
