my winrunner never identifies browser
I am a new user of winrunner testing a website.
I am trying to record all the controls(links, text boxes, buttons etc) in context sensitive mode.Problem is that when I point to my browser(IE5) it always writes
set_window("mic_unknown_class") and never identifies browser window.
Steps I am following is
1)when winrunner software is loaded from start\program\winruner I check(click) the webaddin check box to do my web testing.
2)I use F7\\insert function generator then write web_browser_invoke or select web_browser_invoke from list ofall functions.
3)click on args button and arguments I give is IE in first combo box and path to my web site in second.
4)I click on paste button(it writes syntax) then click on execute button(it pops up IE browser with my site)
I click record in contextsensitive mode and point to my web site and it writes
mic_unknown_class and never identifies browser.
Now I am confused even if I am doing correct steps to simple record and run a script.
I ahd installed IE first and then winrunner and when I record only winrunner is open.
Is there any way to record all the controls(all links, text boxes, comboboxes, button etc whatever is there on web page) of a web page
automatically using winrunner or I have to write script myself or I have to point mouse pointer to each and every controls manually which will be tedious since web page has minimum 65 such controls.
Re: my winrunner never identifies browser
The first thing I would check would be to make sure that the browser is not started beforeWinrunner.Winrunnr always has to be started before the web browser or it won't recognize anything. If this is the problem, once you are able to recognize the browser window you should be able to click on the "Learn" button from the GUI Map Editor and point it, to the web page, to learn all the objects in that page at one time.
