Winrunner converting SilkTest scripts
One of our clients has purchased WinRunner & all the current Test plans, scripts, etc. have been developed by our company w/ SilkTest. We are having to send them this past work; they believe that WinRunner is capable of converting SilkTest scripts, etc. to WinRunner format. I am unfamiliar with WinRunner and how it operates so can anyone tell me if this is really possible for our client to do.
Re: Winrunner converting SilkTest scripts
It is unlikely that a Silk script can be [automatically] converted to a WinRunner script, as Silk has language constructs and data types that do not exist in the WinRunner environment. Furthermore Silk uses an explicit object hierarchy to dereference an object, whereas WinRunner has no notion of parent.child.grandchild.blah object dereferencing [in the WinRunner world there are "windows" that contain "objects", and even then the parent window is not part of the statement containing the object reference].
I would suggest that you contact Merc Technical Support, just to be sure [or to get a definative method for performing the conversion].
