Data Driven Tests
I'm using WR6 and writing some data driven tests. I haven't understood yet the way the "excel-like" files work.
If I change a value in a file and save the file , the change is not always applicable for the test I'm running.
I often need to close the test and re open it and even then, its not always "remembering" the change
Does anyone know how to handle those files or what is the correct way to update values in a file and then run the script to use the new values ?
Re: Data Driven Tests
Here a few suggestion to make sure your changes to the excel sheet are accepted while testing.
1. After typing any value into the excel spreadsheet make sure and hit the return key. This will make sure and set the value in the cell.
2. After modifying a spreadsheet do these two steps.
a. Save the test
b. Click the WinRunner STOP button twice. (why twice .... call it superstition)
3. Back in WinRunner 5.0 you had to save the test with a real name before the data driven stuff would work. (The data driven stuff wouldn't work if the test was still noname***) I haven't seen that this is an issue in 6.0 however.
4. Finally you might make sure and save the excel spreadsheet and close it before returning to WinRunner.
Hope these help!
