Need very basic info
Ok, I already asked this but got no replies so I will attempt to ask it in a better way.
My coding experience in a mainframe environment. I am moving to a test position that will be using TD. We will be using C++ to access the API. I have not started this position yet and don't have access to TD. But I should and would like to practice with C++, get used to working with objects and such that are outside of the scope of my previous use of C++ (mainframe languages are all procedural).
What compiler do you use to write the scripting for TD? Is the code compiled in TD? I have downloaded Borland Turbo but it seems far more involved than necessary for these purposes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just speak slowly and use a lot of hand motions and maybe I will understand.
Re: Need very basic info
The TestDirector API is ActiveX/COM-based, so you can use any language/compiler that supports integration with COM.
I'm not a C++ programmer, so I can't help you there. So long as you can brush up using COM objects in C++, that should be all you need.
On a side note, the customization portion of TestDirector using VBScript files to "tweak" the browser-based interface, so it wouldn't hurt to brush up on VBScript as well.
