Test Director for Quality Center CLI reference?
my company is about to start using TD for QTP, which is good. I have little exposure to this system (I am in deployment, not test per se) and need to understand how tests can be initiated.
Will be getting training from HP etc, but before I go into this, can someone give me an overview of how tests can be started? For instance, we have a build and deployment model that is heavily automated - I would like to be able to include any tests we carry out in this model as well as merge the reports produced back into the main report (I think I can do this fairly easily). But - how can I tell TD to start a test plan off? Is there an api I can use? Does it have any cli commands I can fire into it?
I understand this is a very naive and broad question - but I am just trying to formulate a plan in my mind right now.
Re: Test Director for Quality Center CLI reference?
You would have to get your existing automated tests into TD first. There are several methods to do this, excel, import test utility ect. When you are doing this process, TD will ask you where you would like to group these test. This is define by you in a directory(TestPlan)within TD. Then you can organize these test cases into a TESTSET(TestLab). You can fired off these testsets, manual or automated(QTP)from this TestLab. The results of your testcases along with execution date, time and history are stored here. All data results can be gather on a test(s) or testset(s) for reporting purposes. Hope that helps
