Since I didn't get any answers I wanted to at least provide what I did. In order to export everything from Test Director I wrote a QTP script to go through each test and export it to Excel. I didn't find any way to do a mass export.
I got this from the support site used to create a new test in test plan.
You will be using something similar to this to retrieve the info back from TD.
You can very well use QTP to debug the scripts and find out the objects that can serve your purpose.
Dim td 'As New TDConnection
Set td = QCUtil.TDConnection
Dim tf As TestFactory
Set tf = td.TestFactory
Dim t As Test
Set t = tf.AddItem("New Manual test")
Dim dsf As DesignStepFactory
Set dsf = t.DesignStepFactory
Dim ds As DesignStep
For i = 1 To 5
Set ds = dsf.AddItem(Null)
ds.Field("DS_STEP_NAME") = "Step " & i
ds.Field("DS_DESCRIPTION") = "The design step description"
ds.Field("DS_EXPECTED") = "The expected"
I was searching through posts looking for a way of exporting test scripts from TestDirector to Excel. You say you have done this in QTP. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to post the code as I am struggling to do this. Thanks
