The company I work for currently has T.D. 8.0. I'm going to be away for a few weeks and I would like to work with T.D. off - line. Meaning - I would like to be able to login to a database and see all the test in a suite. Is this possible?
It is possible, but might not be for you as it depends on the access available to your company's network. One solution is via Citrix, if you have a Citrix server. The way they are normally configured you can't save your client side upload from TD but an administrator on the Citrix server can. Once he logs in and logs into TD, then you will be able to do it remotely. Another option is via VPN. Some companies are setting up a VPN access node for their people. This puts you directly onto the company's LAN, but the security is high. Check with your local support people to see what your options are.
We have a Citrix farm here and are currently attempting the same thing. I have found that some servers on the farm have been configured to allow the TD browser plugins to load, other Citrix servers are more restricted.
Essentially it will work only if the Citrix Admin loosens the security restrictions enough to allow the Instanced browser to load the plugins. This needs to be done equally on all Citrix servers in the farm.
The only other issues we see are Citrix security related. (can't save files to the local drive, screenshots taken in TD won't load, etc.) This apears to be mostly because of the way the farm is configured to not allow objects to be saved on the local client PC.
