I am planning to make Test Director setup for testing a VB application using Oracle 9i as DB.
Need help on following points:
1. Which db to use for TD8.0. Mercury support team gives almost all the DBs as supported by TD? But is there any performance issue with some specific DB. We have options of using either Oracle or Sql Server 7.0.
2. We are planning to use it with test partner. Any guidelines?
3. Anyone has used TD8.0 with Windows XP on client machines. If yes, any issues.
You comments and guidelines on new setup will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
The database you choose is up to you, Access is fast and easy to setup. It can reside on the TD server. But it is not as robust as Oracle. If you plan on having a large number of concurrent licenses then opt for Oracle or one of the other db's. If you plan on going to Quality Center, don't bother with Access. We have two servers, one for Ver. 7.6 a windows 2000 Pro server and one for QC a Linux RedHat 9 sever. They both work fine with Win XT clients. We are not using Test Partners yet, but plan on it next year.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
