Updating execution grid (testcycl) with run data
I am attempting to have a field in a TestDirector project on the Test Lab tab, Execution Grid, containing the build that a test was run under. First I added a custom field to the run table, which the tester is prompted for when running manual tests. The problem is that this value is held on the Run table, thus showing up on the Test Run Properties page, but not on the Execution Grid.
First I created a custom field on the Run table called RN_BUILD. This is the field that gets prompted for when a test set run is performed. Next, I have a custom field on the TestCycl table called TC_BUILD. The TC_BUILD field is displayable on the Execution Grid of the Test Lab tab. The problem is that I currently have no way to populate the TC_BUILD field. What I would like to have happen is for the TC_BUILD field to get updated with the build picked on the RN_BUILD field whenever a test is run. Once this data is present I expect to be able to report metrics grouped by the AUT build that is being tested. Perhaps a mechanism in place to update the TC_BUILD field on the TestCycl table whenever the RN_BUILD field is recorded on the Run table through script, triggers, or something else.
If anyone has tips on how to automate the updating of this field in TestDirector 7.6, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Updating execution grid (testcycl) with run data
It's possible to do this on TestDirector 8.0, as it has workflow for all modules. As far as I know in TD 7.6 workflow for Test Lab module can also be implemented, but I'm not sure what are the requirements and procedure. You should check with MIC support.
