TestDirector and Querying an independent SQL Server DB
VERY recent newcomer to TD and I am looking for a way to have TD Test Cases created where running the test it actually runs a query and is able to use a value returned as a parameter. Is this easily possible? If not is there just a simple way to execute a query from within a test case on a DB Server that TD is not running upon?
We have a great many data validation and tracking values that need to be verified and I would like to autmate the retrieval, and processing if possible, of the values in our application's QA SQL Server, not the TD SQL Server.
Re: TestDirector and Querying an independent SQL Server DB
As far as I understand: you want to retrieve the data from some SQL server (say QA SQL Server) and to create tests in TestDirector using this data. Correct?
If so, you need to use VAPI-XP testing tool (built-in in TestDirector). It allows easy access to TestDirector API (ie allows to create tests in TD easily) + you can connect to your QA SQL Server (for example using ADO).
