This has happened to me before when I put the patch for 7.5 on...I ran the install again and it worked. I believe though that it has to do with a service initiated by TD call TDCopyPaste (?) I believe - make sure it is started on the server machine. You need admin provileges to do so. Also, make sure you configure to start at initialization of TD so you don't have to keep doing this.
Can u help me out in finding out the TDCopyPaste service.
I meam where can I locate this service?
It does not show up in the services option of control panel nor does it appear in the Regedit.
Depending on the version of TD the service may not show - if you have TD7.0i or 7.2 I believe it will but if you have 7.5 or higher I believe several services have been wrapped up into the OTAPool service - check that and make sure it is started. Also, it may be the permission level and identity settings that need to be fixed on the server so make sure you (or your Admin guy) follows the directions for set up of who can launch and connect to TD and who has the permissions to use TD. Make sure the Security and Identity tabs have the correct info for all. Try logging on to the server machine itself as the admin and see if you can do the Copy and Paste. If you can then you know you have permission issues, if you can't it's probably service issues. (Don't forget to call the help line 1-877-test-hlp if all else fails!)
I figured out the application that TD uses for CopyPaste.
It is OTAScripting.CCopyPaste
But its not showing me in the application lists when i open the Distributed COM Configuration Properties dialog box by using DCOMCNFG at Start > Run.
It does not show up in the applications list.
I even reinstalled TD but still it does not appear.
I am using TD 7.2.
I reinstalled TD on my machine and the problems seems to be solved as of now.
But still, if anyone can provide a better solution to this proble, I would be extremely grateful.
From what I understand is that the problem has something to do with the
OTAScripting.CCopyPaste application found under DCOMCNFG (Distributed COM Configuration Properties) dialog box. This application has to be setup to be run as a service on the server.
Sorry I didn't get back to this earlier - since you are using TD7.2 you are right in that it uses that TD.CopyPaste service. It needs to be set up on the server machine to be accessed and launched with admin privileges and need to make sure you are in the list of users who can access the service. As a sidenote - that problem went away with version 7.5 as the CopyPaste service was wrapped up into the main TDServer service.
