    Testing in rounds using TD72

    Hi to All,

We have an ongoing project to test. We tested it in "rounds " before TD72 deployment.

I mean rounds in the following way: We received install disc from the develpoment team, install the system, and test the necessary ones. Report the bugs found during the test run. And close the run when there are no more things to be checked.
The developers are simultanously fixing the bugs we found during our test round, naturally on a different system.

Now, my problem is, that we will integrate TD72 Sp4 with CS/CM Synergy from Telelogic, and I dont see the way we can handle this round based testing.
We will get notifications of fixing the bugs, but the tester will not have any idea, if the fix is included in the current test round, or it is to be checked on the next round only.

Furthermore, there is no built in support in TD Test Lab to correctly handle test rounds.

While trying to handle this situation I did the following:
Nowdays we test by manual runs. I created a custom field 'Round' of RUN project entity - which is appearing on the Manual run window of TestDirector, and a 'TS round' custom field of Test Set Execution project entity - which is appearing on the Execution grid window of TestDirector.

We need both of them, in order to clearly recognize on the execution grid the tests that needs to be rerun in the next test round.

I have two major problems with this solution.
First, I cant connect these fields, that leaves to misunderstandings, incorrect handle.
Second, these custom fields uses the same custom lookup list of TestDirector, but I cant set the default value of the field, which would be useful (when we are in test round 3, the tester can ONLY choose round 3).

Any idea on round based testing in TD72 would be great.

    Hi,

We went down into Open Test Architecture in order to solve the problem.
