WR Batch Execution Via Test Set
I am implementing a Keyword/table driven approach. This automation framework basically uses .xls spreadsheets to drive both automated and manual testing. The automated scripts are actually comprised of object level scripts that handle an action on an applications object such as text box. Because the test cases are stored in .xls sheets we used driver scripts or essentially WR batch scripts to drive the execution.
We want to use TD to provide us with Linkage between req, testcases, and execution results. For every test case I plan on entering manual test cases in test director with no associated steps or script (just header type info).
The problem is my automation framework only requires that I execute 1 WR batch script with calls all the other applicable batch scripts or object level scripts.
How can I get TD to place a pass or fail status on the associated manual test cases if they are not specifically included in the test set (or even if they are included for that matter). All pass/fail status in TD seem to roll up to the batch script level.
Any help would be appreciated.
Re: WR Batch Execution Via Test Set
If you want to report a pass or fail status the test has to be in a TestSet, otherwise TestDirector is not able to store run information. For WinRunner batchtests you need to include the batchscript and all the called tests into the same testset, then connect from WinRunner to TestDirector and start the batchscript outof WinRunner. While you are connected to TestDirector WinRunner will ask you for the testset where to store the results and also a runname. It will be the same as starting the scripts from TestDirector and all results will be written into TestDirector.
