I am really really really new at using TestDirector. We currently have a 7.0i box running on NT4 server with sql 7 and want to upgrade it to TD 7.2 as soon as possible. I read the one paragraph in the manual that says to uninstall TD 7.0 before upgrading. Will that not endanger the data in any way? Has anyone done this?
Before performing *any* upgrades to your TD environment, you should back up your data. If you're running SQL on the same machine as TD, simply perform backup to a different server in the event that something goes wrong. You should also save/backup all project folders to a separate computer.
Then after you install 7.2, you will just copy the project folders to the CommDir, point to the same DB and should be able to 'restore' your projects from there.
There will be more risk to your projects if you do *not* uninstall v7.0i before installing version 7.2.
Also, I would *highly* recommend downloading the most recent installation guide from the MI website, as it's been updated about seven times in the last six months.

Thanks for the great info.... but here is my problem:
I followed all the directions on how to cut and copy, the only problem that I am having is pointing the database to the correct folder. Could any one please help
