HELP!! We are working with a client that uses PVCS to track issues. I am automating tests in QuickTest and managing them in Test Director 7.2. I would like to keep my defects in Test Director so that I can keep my links from requirements to defects intact; however, our client wants me to keep all our issues in PVCS. Is there a way to sync up defects in TestDirector with PVCS?
We use PVCS Tracker (had it before we bought TestDirector) and when we piloted version 6 (couldn't use v7 as our requiements tool (CaliberRM) wasn't version compatible with 7), we did get TD to work with Tracker. By that, I mean we got the Defects tab on TestDirector to interact with Tracker, not the TD built-in defect manager. Click on "Submit defect" (or whatever it's called) and an interface would pop up where one would fill out all the PVCS Tracker fields that were defined for that project.
Now we only demo'd this with a local, Dbase-IV type of database, and not our "production" databases on our MS-SQL server. I know we were kind of stymied at that point of how to proceed, but at least you know it supposedly can be done. We haven't pushed it because everyone is so used to using Tracker in its native interface, plus we're still pretty new to TD.
In re-reading you post, I'm not sure this is exactly what you're after, so please reply if you have more details to share.

QUALITY . . . is like buying oats. If you want nice, clean, fresh oats, you must pay a fair price.
However, if you can be satisfied with oats that have already been through the horse . . . that comes a little cheaper.
