How to move TestDirector from Access to MS SQL Server ?
We are in the process of implementing TestDirector and took the default when installing of using MS Access for our database. Since then we have entered some test scripts into our Project. Now we would like to move off MS Access and use MS SQL Server. Any suggestions ?
Re: How to move TestDirector from Access to MS SQL Server ?
Migrating to SQL Server for TestDirector has been greatly improved. It is very easy to do. It is a two-part process: upgrade the database, then upgrade the individual workstations. Here is the simple explanation:
1. Assuming you have installed SQL Server and the database resides on the same server, use the Project Administrator to create a new database. You can select MSSQL as the type.
2. Upgrade each workstation by running the client utilities for SQL. Then, rerun the TestDirector setup and choose SQL as the database. You will also have to point each workstation to the common shared directory.
The administrator's guide can walk you through this in the MSSQL section. Any problems, contact Mercury using their CSO Website at support.merc-int.com
