You have an IP communication/name resolution failure. make sure you can establish bidrectional communication with ping and tracert first.

Re: Issue while trying to connect to LR generator

Ok. This is what I've tried so far:

    ================================================== ========
    1. Made sure that we apply the same LoadRunner version and Service Pack on the Controller and Load Generator machines.

    2. Made sure that we can ping the Controller and host machines bidirectionally.
    Went to the host machine.
    Navigated to C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\.
Open the hosts file in a word editor.
Added all IPs and machine names

    Went to the controller machine
    Navigated to C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\.
Open the hosts file in a word editor.
Added all IPs and machine names

    3. If running the Vusers on the Controller machine, tried to connect to the Controller's using the machine name or IP, instead of 'localhost'.

    4. Made sure that the LoadRunner Agent process or service is running on the remote host machine.
Tried LoadRunner Agent as both a process and a service
    ================================================== =====

The error I'm now getting is this:

    Connection to load generator failed.
Error: Process "lr_bridge.exe" was not created on remote host "10.1.219.129". Reason: communication error. Make sure the Agent process or service is running on the remote machine.. [MsgId: MERR-29987]
Error: Communication error: Failed to connect to remote host [server IP: 10.1.219.129]. [MsgId: MERR-10343]

Re: Issue while trying to connect to LR generator

Interestingly, the host machine also has Controller installed and connecting to its agent from its controller is not a problem. lr_bridge.exe is started in Taskmanager.
I don't know what else to try....

Another user in another thread made reference to making sure 443 port is vacant.

    Is there anything to this?

Try rebooting the Load Generator and then connect again.

Re: Issue while trying to connect to LR generator

Are there any firewalls between Controller and Generator?

Are you running the agent as a service or a process?

"Try rebooting the Load Generator and then connect again. "
    --- Tried it.

"Are you running the agent as a service or a process?"
    --- Tried both.

This is what I see in Network Connections. Looks like this might be my problem. Correct?:

Re: Issue while trying to connect to LR generator

If you are running with Firewalls between the Generators and the Controller, there are two ports that need to be open in both directions: 443 and 54345. Can you verify that the ports are open from the Controller to your Generators?

Also, if you are running as a service make sure whatever user is used to run the service has admin rights on the box. I have seen some weird errors when the service is run as a user without admin rights.

    Thanks a bunch Terri.

How do I go about finding out whether the two ports mentioned are open? Pinch command?

    Thanks,

    Mike
