I am trying to send an XML (soap) message to a mainframe via LR. Unfortunately, the message has < & > characters in it, which are required for the mainframe table. The problem is that when I try to play the message in LR, the < & > characters are interpreted as XML tags and the script fails as it expects a Name in between the tags. Does anyone know what I should be replacing the < & > characters with? I believe that these are sometimes called escape characters. I looked in the help and searched in the forum, but could not easily find what I was looking for. An example of the problem is: <message><<<hello>>>< ;/message>. It is the < & > either side of 'hello' that are causing the trouble. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks for your reply. I tried these characters out and unfortunately, they didn't work - I guess LR doesn't like them. Caviat to this is that I can't recall if I added the ; at the end of each replacement so maybe they will work.
