    web_submit_data problem

    Hi,

    I want to build the ITEMDATA in the web_submit_data function dynamically. For example

    web_submit_data("default.aspx",
    "Action=http://lazarus/flightnet/default.aspx",
    "Method=POST",
    "TargetFrame=",
    "RecContentType=text/html",
    "Referer=http://lazarus/flightnet/",
    "Snapshot=t7.inf",
    "Mode=HTML",
    ITEMDATA,
    "Name=grpType", "Value=radRoundtrip",ENDITEM,
    "Name=lstDepartingCity", "Value=DEN",ENDITEM,
    "Name=lstDestinationCity", "Value=LAX",ENDITEM,
    "Name=txtDepartureDate", "Value=8/19/2003",ENDITEM,
    "Name=txtReturnDate", "Value=8/19/2003", ENDITEM,LAST);

    i want to build the Name and value dynamically like this

    lr_save_string("Name=grpType\", \"Value=radRoundtrip\",ENDITEM,\"Name=lstDeparting City\", \"Value=DEN\",ENDITEM,\"Name=lstDestinationCity \", \"Value=LAX\",ENDITEM","str");

    web_submit_data("default.aspx",
    "Action=http://lazarus/flightnet/default.aspx",
    "Method=POST",
    "TargetFrame=",
    "RecContentType=text/html",
    "Referer=http://lazarus/flightnet/",
    "Snapshot=t7.inf",
    "Mode=HTML",
    ITEMDATA,
    lr_eval_string("{str}"),
    "Name=txtDepartureDate", "Value=8/19/2003",ENDITEM,
    "Name=txtReturnDate", "Value=8/19/2003", ENDITEM,LAST);

    While doing this i am getting error.
    Error -27298: The "Name" argument (number 12) is specified more than once [MsgId: MERR-27298]

    In my script the values i have to include in the ITEMDATA is

    "Name=param1","Value=0",ENDITEM,
    "Name=param2","Value=1",ENDITEM,
    "Name=param3","Value=2",ENDITEM,
    "Name=param4","Value=3",ENDITEM,
    "Name=param5","Value=4",ENDITEM,

    So i am generating the "str" string. Can anyone help me to resolve this error.

    Thanks
    Guru

    Re: web_submit_data problem

    You need to learn correlation and parameterization. These are the two key basic methods to make a script playback successfully. The above requires mostly parameterization.

    If you are untrained in this tool, it is best to get formal training and/or a strong mentor to assist you.

    I did the above things using the web_custom_request function.

    web_custom_request function does not do correlation and parameterization.

    As refered earlier "If you are untrained in this tool, it is best to get formal training and/or a strong mentor to assist you."

    Use Sample applcatiton & Tutorial accompanying LR installations

    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">Excuse-me.. First you have to understand the question.
    As you know, there is no function other than web_custom_request, can be used to model the URL with dyanamic number of name/value pairs.

    I was expecting that answer. Not the one what you gave!

    Re: web_submit_data problem

    You are excused. You will just need to build your own dynamic string and use it as a parameter.

    Re: web_submit_data problem

    I would beg to differ, LoadRunner supports using dynamic number of name/value pairs with web_submit_data. I use this method all the time with work flow type applications where the number of pairs can differ.

    There is documentation on Mercury's site - Problem ID: 9208

    Re: web_submit_data problem

    Good! Thanks for the reference! The solution has also been posted here previously and referenced by James Pulley. Within the past year maybe?? My own solution is proprietary, thus I can't put it out here.
