Related to the above statement, software is like an air conditioning system. Depending upon the requirements of the customer and the as built requirements of the product delivered, a solution from one vendor may be more efficient than another.
The open market is a great sorter of efficiency of any given vendors solution. The least efficient producers and sellers disappear. Thsoe whose solution is a match to market needs survive. For Hercdogules, it would appear that the efficiency of Rational Performance Test and it's java base is a closer match to his or his organization's efficiency than LoadRunner. For a great number of people here in this forum, the efficiency of LoadRunner is a better match (or why risk time, money and an X on your back during any reorg). Gartner and Meta probably have the best pulse on which vendor's solution is efficient for a particular percentage of the market.
To put it another way. Sometimes a hammer is the best tool to drive a nail into a board, rather than a handle attached to a very useful screwdriver.
