I installed loadrunner in my machine and recorded few RTE scripts. Now I am trying to record a HTTP script but loadrunner is not letting me do it. All that happens is when I click the record button, loadrunner opens the browser and I perform the user actions (login, click on various links bla bla)... but when I am doing this, nothing gets recorded in the VUGEN. During this whole time, the 'loadrunner recording tool bar' is afloat and the record button keeps blinking but still nothing get recorded in the script.
I have uninstalled and re-installed loadrunner once and I rebooted my system a couple of times. Still nothing has changed. Does anyone know what could be the reason for this?
I am using the 'web(http/html)' protocol. In the recording options, I have selected 'HTML based script'. This doesn't record anything even for websites like yahoo.com and google.com. I have loadrunner trial version installed on my laptop and the exact same settings do let me record a script for same websites.
What happens with URL-based scripting? Does it record anything?
Also, I'm going to read Jake's mind here - a dangerous occupation and suggest that the protocol he is inquiring about is that used by your application, not the VUser protocol, which you supplied in your last post.
Same thing with the URL based scripting... it still wont create a script like before. The website which I want to record my scripts on is an intranet website. I am not sure about what protocol it uses.
It takes me to a login screen. I actually may have figured out what the problem was. It lets me record the scripts now when I do the following.
In Internet Explorer, I go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections --> LAN settings --> and the uncheck the "Automatically detect settings" option. However, I am not able to play back those scripts now. It keep giving me the following error in the Execution Log:
Action.c(18): Error -27979: Requested form not found [MsgId: MERR-27979]
Action.c(18): web_submit_form("main.asp") highest severity level was "ERROR", 0 body bytes, 0 header bytes
I am still struggling with the proxy settings. But if you guys can give me some inputs as to where I should look first.. it would be awesome.
Thoughts: (try 1 of these at a time)
Check the VUgen recording settings on the other system where the script works. Make settings on current system the same.
Go back to basic record setting, that is HTML-based. The web_submit_form is an optional record setting which you activated in an attempt to get this to work.
Check your proxy settings for what gets bypassed (should be local domain at least). If it's not bypassed, still would be trying the proxy to access and probably garping on that.
You can also check authentication (for proxy) within VUgen.
Do you know anything about XML pages in Vugen HTTP scripts. My scripts come to the same step and get aborted. When I click on the error step in the snapshot view... All I see in place of the snapshot is a page error saying "The XML page cannot be displayed"
