Hi, I am attempting to evaluate Loadrunner based purely on unique functionality compared to other leading load test tools. I am aware of the cost of the solution and capabilities but have been unable to pinpoint the unique value offered by mercury.
Is anyone aware of unique functionality or situations where Loadrunner offers a superior tool to anything on the market? I am not considering price as an objection but would appreciate if any users could share why technically Load Runner was the solution chosen.
Please search this forum. There have been lots of discussions about tool comparisons, but it all boils down to the same thing: Make sure you know what you need to test (requirements) and evaluate the tools against those requirements. Suggest requirements to consider: protocols used by your organization, ease of scripting, ease of maintenance of scripts, reporting and analysis functions, price, vendor support, viability of the company, strategic direction of the vendor, etc.
Supported protocols is a primary consideration! especially if your architecture is off the beaten path or a little archaic.
The other criteria mentioned by nathan are all good. One that is missing is monitoring capabilities on different platforms.
