We have to test our application residing in Citrix Server. The application is based on VB front end and middle tier is .NET. My question is can we use load Runner for performance testing the application in Citrix. Can we log into the Citrix server and click on the application using LoadRunner?
Yes and Yes. Using the LoadRunner Citrix protocol, you can log into the Citrix Metaframe and launch your application.
If you are doing any load balancing between Metaframes, then you may need to go multi-protocol. What we did was create a multi-protocol script, select Web & Citrix. LoadRunner will automagically switch between Web and Citrix as you launch the web browser, login to the Metaframe, launch your app, logout, etc... This actually takes a total of 3 protocols (learned this one the hard way!) - Dual Protocol Web+Citrix, Web and Citrix.
Hope this helps!!

Can you please explain how to use LoadRunner Citrix protocol. I have installed free 10 day trial of LoadRunner and we will be purchasing the software next week. In the meantime i have to show the demo using LoadRunner for 3 users.
Can you please give me the steps how i can configure in LoadRunner.
I am very new to LoadRunner, never used it before.
You're a brave person. Citrix is not for the timid, it's a tier 2 or tier 3 protocol on the sophistication scale. Involve Mercury or your VAR immediately. You will likely need to go for a Proof of concept versus a demo. You will need to involve external resources if you are looking for success.
Mr Pulley said it. I would be even more direct and call the LoadRunner and Citrix combination a seriously big pain in the a_s. :-)
Nothing to begin with if you are unfamiliar with LoadRunner. There are so many problems related to Citrix or GUI applications scripting, that your project is likely to fail in case you do not have anyone involved with previous experience from LoadRunner scripts & performance tests. IMHO
