I am able to measure the response times from a web user point of view, like web pages and web forms. Now I want to be able to determine the times used by infrastructure components like firewall, appserver and webserver. For instance: the total response time was 8 seconds, how many of this time was used bij the firewall? What is the approach to do this and can you do this only with LoadRunner or do you need additonal monitoring tools?
Re: Infrastructure measurements
i think it's possible to monitor network things from LoadRunner in the analysis (like time spent in dns, total time in network), but you'll need to check your app and web server logs if you want time inside web service, middleware or databases.
I may be wrong, perhaps my employers are just too cheap to pay for the proper counters and would rather have me writing log chopping scripts than paying me to surf all these internets!
