Load Runner on Java applet pages
We are evaluating Load Runner to load test an application. The tool works well on ASP pages and is able to generate the script and we are able to carry out the load test. But for the Java applet pages which runs on Apache TOMCAT v 4.0, Load Runner records the script but during playback of the script, none of the database operations (insert/update) are carried out.
The environment details are mentioned below
OS : Windows 2000
Web server: IIS 5.0 and Apache TOMCAT 4.0
Java Components used : Coffee Table Component from Argent software, Connection Pooling component developed by our team
Database : MS SQL Server 2000.
Re: Load Runner on Java applet pages
Likely a correlation has been missed in your script. This would result in invalid/stale information being passed back to the server, possibly as part of the post of data that is to be updated/inserted into the database. Also, make sure all of your users are nodifying different records. It really wouldn't be a good idea to have tens of hundreds of users modify the same record.
Side note, is the behavior of non-change observable in both the Virtual User Generator (for one user) as well as the controller? If so, then very clearly you still have some code work left to handle before you are ready to generate load. Rule of thumb, If it will not work for one user, it will never work for many users .
