How to record LR Script for Stand-alone Java client
I am trying to get performance numbers for a stand-alone java client(.jar file) that talks to a BPEL engine using SOAP over HTTP. I need to create a script that records traffic between client and the engine. Can someone tell me how to record the script (like the protocol to be used etc..)
Re: How to record LR Script for Stand-alone Java client
Sometimes the recorder is just more trouble than it's worth. In a case like this, assuming the data flow is not encrypted (ssl), I have been known to take a protocol analyzer and "sniff" the stream, perform a stream, reassembly across the frames, and then take the embedded SOAP calls and place them in a SOAP virtual user, or HTTP virtual user as appropriate.
Yeah, I know. This is somewhat akin to driving a ten penny nail with a bulldozer, but it does work every single time. You also have the added problem of being able to effectivly drive a bulldozer (protocol analyzer) to grab the information you need. Unfortunately, many people who test apps are not 'dozer skilled.
Also, make sure to double check that you have the right licenses in your controlled for your execution. I have known far too many who spent hours configuring and tuning a virtual user for a specific protocol, only to find that their company had not licensed said protocol for use in the controller.
