I have one issue. When i try to connect to the Webserver using the Controller,i get an error unable to connect to the Server.I tried to contact the Mercury guys and they told me that if the windows performance manager doesn't work then even you can't connect to the webserver from the controller.
Is there any one who can help me why i am unable to connect to the Webserver using the windows performance manager.
Different problems can cause the above error. Some of the things you can verify include:
1. Make sure that you apply the same LoadRunner version and Service Pack on the Controller and Load Generator machines.
2. Make sure that you can ping the Controller and host machine bidirectionally. You may need to add the IP address and machine name on the host file:
Go to the host machine.
Navigate to C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\.
Open the hosts file in a word editor.
At the end of the file, add another line with the IP address and machine name of the Controller machine.
Repeat steps a - d for all the host machines.
Repeat steps a - d for the Controller machine, but adding the IP and machine name of the hosts machines.
If you are trying to use Microsoft Performance Monitor which it sounds like you are, make sure you have either a net use or a drive mapped to the web server. You also need to make sure that the ID you are using to authenticate to that server has the necessary rights to get performance statistics.
4. Concurrent Groups
5. LR91P026 QFE
7. All protocols - 3500 Vusers
9. Windows 2003 SP2
You should able to "ping" the server, (ICMP should be enabled on the server.
You should able to ""tracert" and "webtrace" the server. (SNMP should be enabled on server).
Check Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is running on the server.
You should have admin rights on the server (or atleast read rights to Perf*.dat in registry)
Now you should be able to perfmon that machine. Still if you can not see the counters, the 'Smart' webmasters must have stopped some of the services on the server, try to run the same scenario on test server/machine.
Still if you cant get it, Check that you have valid LR Monitor license.
