set up for Load Runner
I am new to load runner.I want to know the architecture of Load runner in an office Environment.particularly where will be all the components installed(Vugen, controller,Analysis,Load Generator).
And my another doubt is can we add transaction points while generating the script or after the script is generated.
Re: set up for Load Runner
Vugen typically resides on the machine where script development occurs.
The controller and analysis can (and usually do) reside on one machine.
The controller and generator should, but technically do not have to, be deployed on seperate hosts. Consider using at least two generators, with one as a control factor running one script of each type. Generators should not be running on the same host as the one you are testing.
Yes, you can add transaction points both when recording and afterwards. You can even make the transaction name dynamic, replacing it with a string of your choice at runtime.
All of this is covered on both product documentation and training. Since you are a new user I would highly recommend training and your first couple of load testing projects thereafter include a mature LoadRunner resource as a mentor. Doing anything less might be the equivalent of allowing a young person to play with a dangerous item unsupervised.
