I am assigned with task of developing a Load Testing Harness for Reverse Proxy Environment (RPE). The primary purpose of the harness are:
1. To verify that the (Reverse Proxy Environment) - RPE can scale to the required load of a certain number of requests per second.
2. To verify that the RPE can maintain service levels under load.
Thanks in advance for any input you may provide.
A. Run your test without the proxy in place to establish a clean baseline to compare to.
B. Insert your proxy (or other device...load balancer...etc....) and run the exact same test, right down to rolling back any database so you can use the exact same data.
C. Compare the two result sets using the cross scenario analysis feature of the analysis engine.
Why perform A first? You need to establish that your app and everything else scales cleanly first, then you can introduce an item which has a question mark on top of it for how it will scale.
