I have basic experience with Astra Load Test 5.4.3. My organization needed to get some extra licenses for Load Test but when we contacted Mercury, Mercury told us they were going to send us Loadrunner instead. Based on what I was told, Mercury may be phasing out Astra Load Test.
I haven't received the Loadrunner CDs yet so haven't had a chance to play around with it yet. Does anyone have a idea of how similar to Load Test it is in terms of creating scripts? Due to our development schedule, I am concerned that I won't have enough time to learn how to use Loadrunner. If the two applications are very similar to each other, it may not be a major problem.
Astra LoadTest has been built from the ground up to provide fast, simple load testing for client-side testing of your Web applications. LoadRunner is an enterprise load testing tool that tests ERP, CRM and custom client/server applications. In addition, LoadRunner can help stress test your applications to the maximum capacity, using the widest range of Web protocols, including HTTP, CORBA, LDAP, COM, WAP and POP3. LoadRunner also includes support for other complex technologies, such as Java and streaming media.
It will be alomost similar exepct the language which it will use for scriptint. Any how we will do very less modification to the script except for few protocols. Controller is very similar to Astra Load test. So you can easily adopt to the tool. For futher queries you can use forums.
