Re: Unable to connect to the load generator

Can you ping Generator from the Controller?

    Is LoadRunner Agent running?

Are the versions of LoadRunner the same for Controller and Generator?

Try connecting to another local machine which has LoadRunner Agent running. Can you do this?

Re: Unable to connect to the load generator

    Hi,
I am also new with 1 month work experience in LoadRunner 7.8. If you have problem with the connection, generally it could be a protocol problem. Can you ping your localhost means you local machine. So if it is not a TCP/IP or network problem, check if all components are the same version or add-ons. I have experience problem with my load generator but I found that all components did not have the same version. I upgrade all components and my remote Load Generator has been connected. If all components are on the same machine or not, please add more details.
    Good luck.
    Pascal.

Re: Unable to connect to the load generator

    thankx for ur reply Baz,

yes the LR agent is running and the versions are the same for controller and generator.

I dont know how to ping Generator from controller? Is there a command prompt in controller?

But, i verified the configuration of the machine's TCP/IP setup, with the hlep of LR utility, hostinfo.exe (under LR's bin directory)

THe "Resolve local host name" option is showing an error

Error: No DNS server defined (In the details section)

When i try to resolve the local host name, by Ip add or name, its giving an error

"windows sockets error 11001: Host not found."

Can u tell me, what do i need to do here? thank u

Re: Unable to connect to the load generator

By the way, fyi, pinging the generator from the controller is a Windows function (or, actually, a DOS command). It's nothing to do with the LoadRunner software itself.

    Go to DOS window
    enter ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
where the x's are the IP address
