How do you calibrate loadrunner injectors - i.e work out how many vusers each injector can handle before introducing error into the test results.
I haven't used loadrunner for over a year and remember that there is a procedure you can follow for this.
You need 2 identical machines, you bring up vusers on each machine, you monitor various stats on each machine, page faults etc - but I can't remember the exact procedure.
Any help would be appreciated as I will be setting up a Loadrunner environment on NT quite soon.
You can estimate the memory footprint of your virtual users by running a single vuser on your Load Generator and monitoring how much memory the mmdrve.exe process consumes. Repeat this for say 10 users and you should start to get a feel for what you can realistically expect to get from your hardware.
One thing I would suggest, is to perhaps consider using a Percentage Mode scenario. This has the advantage of you being able to assign 'All Load Generators' to your vuser groups which LoadRunner then tries to load balance across the defined list of Load Generators. There is even a CPU health icon in the Load Generators window (available from the scenario design tab of the controller).
7.6 is the latest version. Percentage mode came in 7.5. When you work in the Percentage Mode, you define the total number of Vusers to be used in
the scenario, and assign load generators and a percentage of the total number of Vusers to each script.
