    VuGen records web_submit_data-steps in HTML-mode

I'm having a problem when recording in VuGen (LR 7.51SP1).
Normally VuGen records context-aware web_submit_form steps when doing POSTs, but sometimes this fails. In the documentation for web_submit_data (which is context-less) it is stated that: <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">quote:</font><HR>VuGen also records a web_submit_data statement whenever a form is submitted and it is unable to generate a web_submit_form statement.
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Not getting web_submit_form-steps is unfortunate as it increases the need to correlate between steps, increases the size of the script and in general defeats the purpose of HTML-mode scripting. <UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>Does anyone know when VuGen is "unable to generate a web_submit_form statement"?
    <LI>Have anyone else experienced this?
<LI>Are there any settings, patches that can help?[/list]

    Kind regards,
    - Kjetil

when recording in HTML mode vugen uses the cache to frame the requests to the server.
To start with vugen starts with the web_url statement....now to frame the next request vugen makes a comparison between the retrieved (cached) HTML , the responce of the web_url and the next request to be submitted . If the comparison passes ie cache contains all the information required to post the request then vugen records the web_submit_from but if the comparison fails then vugen records a web_submit_data() which is contextless and has all the information required to post the request.

    hope this helps.....

Remember this occurs during recording. The response of the web_url is an HTML page with a form (for which the HTML is cached).
I submit the form. How can I submit a form that is not found in (the "comparison" done with) the cache? How does this comparison (not) work?

    Hello
What mode of recording have you used in this case.
My observation is that LR inserts web_submit_data stmts when the mode of recording is URL mode irrespective of whether the data submission method is GET or POST.
    Thanks, mh

Re: VuGen records web_submit_data-steps in HTML-mode

    hi kjetiljd ,
i dont understand ur second question...
anyway i'll try to clear the confusion..
In the HTML mode all the respoces are cached
the next function that is generated during recording (web_submit_form/web_submit_data) is decided on the basis of user actions and the comparison result of the html page that is alredy present in the cache and the new HTTP request.

This comparison is done for objects, data fields and values of hidden fields .
