Hi to all Top Specialists,
I am re-using a script deleting old statements and re-recording in it so I can re-use all parameters in there. The recording log got to big, so I just deleted it. Till now everything seems to work fine. Anyone has any comments on this strategy ?
all the best
Re: Re-using scripts
Shouldn't cause any problems. What I do instead is open an old script and use Save As to save it as a new script, giving me two copies of it. Then I do what you do with the second.
If you don't save your scripts in Test Director, you might also be able to just use the Import Action functionality to import from an old script into a brand new one. Importing actions seems to always import all of the parameters as well. Though for me (I think because of TD) they all get imported with dumb names, rather than the names they use to have.
The only problem with either of these two methods is that you can end up sharing 1 parameter file for multiple scripts. This will cause problems down the road. Especially if you ever delete a parameter that uses the file. VUGen has some poorly thought out functionality that automatically deletes the parameter file when a parameter that is using it gets deleted, without any warning whatsoever; even if other parameters in the same script use it.
